So before Nablus, I spent a day at the beach in Tel Aviv with friends Kresten and Dan. We went to old Jaffa (which felt so Mediteranean--which it is, but more in a Greek island kind of way and less in an Israeli way).
The water was warm. There were fish, but only small not scary ones. And Tel Avis is soooooooo not Jerusalem. As soon as you get off the bus there's a different feeling. Less tension, less religion, less machine gunned guards. It's really just a dirty city with a few nice beaches. But it was nice to change things up.
Also beach soccer is incredible! Kresten took some video on his camera and hopefully I can steal that from him and post it. It's like volleyball but you can't use your arms/hands. they chest bump, head bump and kick. At night we came across a whole bunch of serious looking matches. One game of two on two, two old guys vs. two young guys, was mesmerizing. Like, how can people control a ball that well in the air, without using any arms? When we stopped watching, the old guys were definitely winning.
